New Delhi, July 29: Days after the notification to implement the 7th Pay Commission was issued, the government on Friday announced that all arrears will be paid in cash and in one installment, along with their salary slip in August. The notification was issued on Tuesday accoriding to which all government employees would receive revised pay, with effect from January 1, 2016. In efforts to expedite the disbursement, the government has decided that the claims will be paid without pre-check of fixation of pay in revised scales of pay, ANI reported. However, employees who have been relinquished will not be able to avail the facility of claiming arrears without the pre-check of fixation of pay. This would include employees who have resigned, retired or the ones who have been dismissed, after the date of implementation of the pay commission’s recommendations.

Last month, the cabinet approved the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission which, among other things, increased the minimum salary from Rs 7,000 to Rs 18,000 per month. The pay commission will benefit more than 47 lac government employees and 50 lac pensioners. Those unsatisfied with the hike have noted that this is lowest increase in salaries in the past seven decades.
