7th Pay Commission Latest News: As 2019 Lok Sabha elections are around the corner, the Narendra Modi-led government has given a big bonanza for professors and teachers of every state by announcing a salary hike for them. Besides teachers, other staff of universities and colleges will also get a new pay scale, the central government has said. If reports are to be believed, the new pay scales will be applicable from January 1, 2016.

Speaking to Zeebiz.com Lucknow University Associated College Teachers Association (LUACTA) president Manoj Pandey said that the implementation of the 7th pay commission will increase the salaries by about Rs 40,000 at professor level while those at the lower level will get a hike up to Rs 7,000.

Furthermore he stated that the University Grant Commission (UGC) last year had issued a notice to increase the salary of university teachers and employees. But several states had refused to obey the order. But now following Centre’s decision, it will be implemented across the country.

This move will directly benefit a total of 29,264 teachers and other academic staff of state government funded institutes. Besides, about 3.5 lakh teachers and other academic staff of private colleges or institutions within the purview of All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) will also be benefitted from the approval.
