The Uttarakhand government on Thursday announced that all the non-gazetted employees of the state will be getting the pre-Diwali bonus. The announcement was made after the proposal was cleared by the state election commission owing to the impending local body polls. The move will benefit more than 1.5 lakh state government employees working in local bodies, technical and aided educational institutes. The order issued by Finance Secretary Amit Negi said that the employees will get a 30-day ad hoc bonus for fiscal 2017-18. Recently, the Delhi government also announced revision in pay scales of the employees as per 7th Pay Commission recommendations. The Arvind Kejriwal-led Cabinet approved hike in pay scales of teachers and equivalent cadres and administrative posts in universities and colleges at par with the 7th Central Pay Commission or 7th CPC. Above all, the government employees will also get 34 months’ arrears under 7th CPC aegis as the revised pay will come into effect on pro-rata basis from January 1, 2016. Meanwhile, reports are doing rounds that the Central Government employees will too get a hike in their salaries after Assembly election 2018 and before Lok Sabha election 2019. The increase is speculated to be around Rs 2,000. However, no official confirmation on the same has been made yet.

Demands of Central Government Employees

The Central Government employees are demanding a hike of Rs 8,000 in their minimum pay. They are currently getting a pay of Rs 18,000 and after the increase their salaries will shoot up to Rs 26,000. On the other hand, the CG employees are also asking for a raise in fitment factor – from 2.57 to 3.68 times. Both the demands, made by the CG employees, are beyond 7th Pay Commission recommendations.

Centre’s Stand on CG Employees’ Demands

Minister of Finance (MoS) P Radhakrishnan had in March declared that the Centre is not considering a raise the minimum pay and fitment factor of 50 lakh Central Government beyond 7th Pay Commission recommendations.
