Amid the wait of Central Government employees for an announcement of hike in fitment factor and minimum pay beyond 7th CPC or 7th Central Pay Commission recommendations by the Narendra Modi government, several states have started providing the benefits of 7th Pay Commission to their employees. The recent among these is the Maharashtra government.
Recently, the Finance Minister of Maharashtra had announced that the salaries of the state employees will be increased from Diwali this year. He said that the step is being taken in terms with the 7th Pay Commission recommendations.
The Uttar Pradesh government is not too far behind in providing the benefits of 7th Pay Commission to its employees. The Yogi Adityanath-led government has decided to give an increase in the House Rent Allowance (HRA) in the salaries of its employees.
Apart from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, other states which have given the benefits of 7th Pay Commission to their employees are Tripura, Jammu and Kashmir and Madhya Pradesh among others. These reports have further provided a base to the hopes of Central Government employees who have been waiting for a hike in minimum factor and fitment factor beyond 7th Pay Commission recommendations.
However, the hopes of 50 lakh Central Government employees were earlier this year dashed by Minister of Finance (MoS) P Radhakrishnan. He had announced in the Rajya Sabha that the Centre is not considering announcing a hike in minimum pay and fitment factor beyond the 7th Pay Commission recommendations anytime soon.
