7th Pay Commission Latest News: At a time when over 50 lakh Central government employees are awaiting for an announcement of a hike in minimum pay and fitment factor beyond the recommendations of 7th Pay Commission, it has been reported that faculty members at Chandigarh’s PGI are also waiting for Centre’s nod over an increase in the minimum pay hike.

As per a report of Times of India, the PGI Faculty Association, which has taken up the matter is expected to meet the joint secretary, health, Union ministry of health by the end of July. Talking to the daily, Dr Rajesh Chhabra, president, PGI faculty association said that as of now there is no rejection or acceptance of their demands as the matter is stuck. Hence, to discuss the same, they have sought time from the ministry.
“Even AIIMS is waiting for implementation. So, we hope our case will be taken up,”Chhabra added.
On the other hand, the government of Maharashtra a couple of days ago decided to hike the pay of its employees from Diwali this year. The state government had reportedly decided to implement recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission (7th Pay Commission) for its employees from Diwali (which falls in November this year).
“The Seventh Pay Commission will be our Diwali gift to employees,” finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said. Adding further, he claimed that the decision will put a financial burden of Rs 21,530 crore on the state exchequer.
