Ahmedabad, Apr 11: Prachi Sukhwani, a 21-year-old student at Maharaja Sayajirao University’s Faculty of Commerce had lost 80 per cent of her vision due to macular dystrophy in class III. However, the disability did not stop her from achieving her dream and Prachi finally proved herself after getting admission in one of the world’s premier management institutes, the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A).

Prachi was advised to read using special glasses by doctors and she has been regularly visiting for last 15 year in Chennai. Even in such a situation, Prachi was successful in getting calls from IIM-Ahmedabad, IIM-Bangalore and IIM-Kolkata, the top three IIMs of the country.

Prachi scored 98.55 percentile in CAT 2016 in which she had appeared with a disability. Speaking to Times Of India, she said, “My short term goal is to join a company, preferably a multinational. Once I get some experience, I will have my own start-up. But my long-term goal is to open an NGO for the blind.”

Prachi Sukhwani’s father Suresh Sukhwani runs a garment business and her mother Kanchan is a homemaker and an LIC agent and her sister is pursuing MBA from Mumbai.
