New Delhi, September 10: Amanatullah Khan, another Aam Aadmi party leader has submitted his resignation today after his sister-in-law has alleged him of eve teasing. According to news agency ANI, a police complaint has been registered against the legislature at Jamia Nagar Police station in Delhi and he is likely to be arrested by police.

The news about First Information Report (FIR) registered against Amanatullah Khan started surfacing around, few minutes after the AAP leader submitted his resignation from all posts within the party. On Saturday afternoon the 45-year-old legislator from Okhla has written to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, apprising him of his decision to relinquish all positions he held within the party.

According to reports, Amanatullah who was elected from the minority-dominated area was completely backed by his party, including AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal. Earlier when Amanatullah was arrested on physically intimidating with a woman, AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal said that his MLAs are being targeted by Delhi Police at the behest of Centre. Amanatullah’s decision to quit from all posts hints towards the internal cracks growing within the party. (Also Read: Dissent within AAP Delhi unit? After submitting his resignation, Amanatullah said in a letter, “I have been working wholeheartedly to serve people of Delhi. But some people are not liking my honesty and dedication”. He further added, “Mujhe aur mere parivaar ko tarah tarah ke jhoothe aarop laga ke fasaya ja raha hai. Mai janta ko safayi dete thak gaya hoon (My family members and I are facing different sort of fake allegations. We are being framed. I am sick of defending myself in the public”. He further wrote, “Therefore I would like to get relieved of all responsibilities party has given me, I resign from all posts”.

The anti-corruption bureau in Delhi had recently launched an investigation against Amanatullah Khan for allegedly being involved in the Waqf Board recruitment scam. He is one of the prominent Muslim faces of AAP in Delhi and he wrested the minority-dominated seats of Okhla with a huge margin in the Delhi Assembly Elections 2015.
