New Delhi, July 18: Delhi Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Kondli constituency Manoj Kumar, on Monday appeared before the Delhi Commission for Women, in relation to a case of domestic violence against him. Kumar’s wife has lodged a complaint against him. accusing him of abusing her. The case was then picked up by the DCW, which launched an investigation into it, and summoned Kumar for interrogation. More details on the case are awaited. This comes a day after Arvind Kejriwal had accused the central government of charging his MLAs in false cases.
During the first episode of his interactive show ‘Talk to AK’, which debuted on Sunday, Kejriwal had spoken at length about how the BJP-led government at the Center was not letting his lawmakers work, accusing them of conspiring against his government. Kumar had been arrested last year, in an old case of alleged land fraud. An FIR had been registered against, alleging that he and his accomplices had thrashed a man in Delhi’s Mayur Vihar (Phase-III). Kumar is just one of the many AAP legislators, against who the Delhi Police has filed criminal cases, leading to AAP crying foul over an attempt to undermine their government in the national capital. AAP legislator Somnath Bharti had also been accused of domestic abuse by his wife, who filed a complaint against him in June last year. Bharti’s estranged wife Lipika Mitra, had accused Bharti of dowry harassment sexual and mental torture and infidelity and had filed a complaint with the DCW.
