New Delhi, Jan 5: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) nominees for the Rajya Sabha elections have declared their assets with startling revelations. While Sanjay Singh, in the nomination papers, declared that he earned Rs 224 in the fiscal year 2016-17, ND Gupta, a practicing CA and economist, has no personal house or car. The third candidate Sushil Gupta (businessman and politician) has declared his assets worth Rs 170 crore. Sanjay Singh filed his nomination papers on Thursday and declared Rs 224 was all he earned in the financial year 2016-17. His affidavit said that his wife Anita Singh’s total income was Rs 49,874 in 2016-17. Singh also revealed his movable assets worth Rs 59,499. Sanjay Singh is a member of the Political Affairs Committee and National Executive of AAP.
“We will continue the struggle we have waged against the corrupt system. I will keep raising the issues of the people of Delhi and the nation in the Upper House. I will be the voice of the common man against the oppression and systemic injustice,” he said after filing his nomination papers. Narain Dass Gupta
Narain Dass Gupta declared his assets worth Rs 9.60 crore in which, Gupta has Rs 1.76 crore and his wife has Rs 2.97 crore. Although Gupta doesn’t have a car or a house, he owns gold worth 250 grams and silver worth two kilogram.
Narain Dass Gupta is a practising Chartered Accountant and was the first Indian to be elected on the Board of International Federation of Accountants, USA. ND Gupta has also served as President of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
“I will raise the major issues which the nation is facing today, like the after effects of demonetization and the faulty implementation of GST in Rajya Sabha,” he said after filing his nominations. AAP’s tweet on ND Gupta read, “Mr ND Gupta is a through Professional, an Educationist, Social worker and successful Administrator.”
Delhi-based businessman Sushil Gupta declared a total income of Rs 6 lakh and 65 thousand. Gupta’s educational qualification says he earned a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) and Bachelor of Law (LLB). However, his 2013 Assembly election affidavit says he has MBA from IASE and an honorary Doctorate of Literature from Gurukul Mahavidyalaya, Jwalapur.
In other reports, on being asked why Kumar Vishwas wasn’t named as one of the three nominees for the Rajya Sabha elections, Delhi Minister Gopal Rai on Thursday Kumar Vishwas of trying to pull down the AAP government saying that he plotted to break the party. “Can such a person be sent to the Rajya Sabha? Will he be the voice of the party in the Rajya Sabha,” Rai said, adding that he (Kumar) would have used the Rajya Sabha seat to pull down the party in the national capital.
Reacting to the accusations, Kumar Vishwas said, “Mera unse anurodh hai ki naye-naye Congress aur BJP se aaye hue jo Guptas hain, unke yogdaan ka kuch din anand lain, mere shav ke saath ched-chad na karen (I request Rai to enjoy the contribution of BJP and Congress’ Guptas and do not disturb my dead body).”
