Actor Dileep Expelled From Primary Membership of AMMA After Arrest in Abduction-Molestation Case

Soon after the incident emergency meeting was held at Mammootty's residence in Kochi where the members of the committee decided to remove Dileep from its primary membership.

New Delhi, July 11: Actor-producer-businessman Dileep, who was arrested on Monday, on charges of conspiracy in the abduction and sexual assault of a leading actress, has been expelled from the primary membership of Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) on Tuesday. Soon after his arrest, an emergency meeting was held at Mammootty’s residence in Kochi where the members of the committee decided to remove Dileep from its primary membership.

They even decided to expel him from the post of treasurer. According to the reports, actors such as  Prithviraj, Asif Ali, Ramya Nambeesan, Devan, Kalabhavan Shajon and Edavela Babu were part of the meeting.

While speaking to media Mammootty said, “AMMA executive council called an emergency meeting following the development in the case. AMMA has expelled Dileep from the primary membership of the committee. Till now, we have supported the actress and will continue to do so.”

Meanwhile, Dileep was produced before a magistrate and remanded to 14-day judicial custody on Tuesday morning.  The Kerala Film Producers Association has also expelled Dileep from its primary membership.
