Adampur Election Results 2017: Pawan Kumar Tinu from Shiromani Akali Dal won this seat in Punjab assembly polls

While Akali Dal has given the ticket to its sitting MLA Pawan Kumar Tinu, the Congress has fielded Mohinder Singh Kaypee to contest the elections.

Adampur(Jalandhar), March 11: The results of Punjab assembly elections 2017 have been declared todayCounting of votes in Adampur, which was contested along with other constituencies on February 4 was declared. Pawan Kumar Tinu from Shiromani Akali Dal won the Adampur seat with 45229 votes. The contest in Adampur turned triangular with the entry of Aam Aadmi Party Candidate Hans Raj Rana. While Akali Dal gave the ticket to its sitting MLA Pawan Kumar Tinu, the Congress fielded Mohinder Singh Kaypee to contest the elections.

In the previous assembly elections in 2012, Shiromani Akali Dal Candidate Pawan Kumar Tinu won the constituency. He defeated the Congress candidate Satnam Singh Kainth by a margin of 19304 votes.

Congress is contesting assembly elections under the leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh who has declared these elections to be his last elections. However, the contest has turned tougher with the entry of Aam Aadmi Party in the state. Its entry has posed the challenge to both traditional players, Congress and Akali Dal. Akali Dal has been ruling the state for the two consecutive terms. Adampur is a reserved constituency for Scheduled Castes.

The total number of votes cast in this constituency during the 2017 elections is 116054 and the voting percentage is recorded at 74.03%, which is less than the state average of 77.4%.

The total number of voters in Adampur assembly seat is 156768. The election commission has established 213 polling stations and these polling stations are situated at 148 different locations across this assembly segment.
