Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 12: On Monday, 6 people were taken into custody by Kerala Police for disrespecting National Anthem before the screening of Italian movie at the International film festival of Kerala. The six were detained for not standing up when the National Anthem was being played. More details are awaited in this case. This was the second incident reported after Supreme Court had asked all the cinema halls to play the National Anthem before the start of a movie and had said all will have to stand up in respect. On Sunday, a case was registered against seven people including a woman for not standing up for the national anthem in a cinema hall in Chennai and reportedly around 20 people had a fight with the seven people for not standing up. Chennai Police had registered a case under provisions of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act 1971 against the seven. This film festival is held every year either in November or in the month of December in the state capital Thirivanthapuram. It started in 1996. National and International films are screened at this event. It is hosted by Kerala State Chalachitra Academy.
