Mysuru (Karnataka), July 20: Three sisters were allegedly gangraped for several months by at least five men in Karnataka’s Mysuru. The police have arrested one of them, believed to be the prime accused, from Mangaluru in connection with the case. The prime accused has been identified as 30-year-old Aban. A report said that the sisters, aged 16, 17 and 18, were sexually assaulted at different places including Mangaluru and Bengaluru over several months. The incident came to light after the victims’ mother filed a complaint with Odanadi Seva Samasthe (OSS). The organisation’s investigation also revealed that apart from sexual abuse, the three sisters, who belong to an economically backward family, were also forced into prostitution at some point in time. One of the accused kidnapped the girls and took them to Mangaluru and other places by offering them goodies and other things. Their mother then filed a missing complaint with the organisation. Police, later, tracked the girls and brought them back.



The gangrape has come a few days after an 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped for several months by 22 men at an apartment complex in Chennai’s Purasawalkam, according to reports. Police have arrested 18 of the suspects, including the building’s security guards. The accused also include elevator operators and plumbers of the apartment complex.
