A day after Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi drew attention by carrying a pro-Palestine bag to Parliament, she and other Opposition members were seen on Tuesday with another tote bag highlighting the plight of minorities in Bangladesh. The bag featured the message, “Stand with Bangladeshi Hindus and Christians,” referring to recent attacks on minorities in Bangladesh following the removal of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stepped down from her post on August 5 and fled the country amid growing pressure from the country’s army and anti-quota protestors.

Opposition MPs also carried placards along with the tote bags to protest against atrocities faced by minorities in Bangladesh, staging their demonstration in the Parliament premises.
The Opposition has been employing creative methods to draw attention to issues they want discussed in Parliament. For instance, during the ongoing Winter Session, MPs have worn jackets and t-shirts emblazoned with the slogan “Modi-Adani ek hain,” in protest over allegations against businessman Gautam Adani following a US court indictment.
A controversy erupted on Monday when Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi was seen carrying a bag with “Palestine” written on it during the Parliament session. The bag also featured several symbols, including a watermelon, which is often associated with solidarity with Palestine.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s gesture, dismissing it as a “useless act.” In response, she hit back at the BJP, urging the government to focus on addressing the atrocities faced by minorities, particularly Hindus, in Bangladesh, rather than engaging in “rubbish talk.”
She emphasized that the Central government should take concrete steps and engage in discussions with the Bangladeshi government on the issue.
“The atrocities happening in Bangladesh against minorities and Hindus need urgent action. Talks should be held with the Bangladesh government regarding this. Instead of indulging in such pointless matters, the government should act,” Priyanka told reporters at the Parliament premises.
The BJP quickly seized the moment to criticize her. BJP MP Manoj Tiwari accused Priyanka and the Congress party of prioritizing appeasement and using divisive agendas to gain votes. He claimed that her gesture reflected support for Palestine at the cost of India’s interests.
