New Delhi: Reiterating Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s demand, NCP MP Supriya Sule on Wednesday also demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the ongoing violence in Northeast Delhi that has claimed over 22 lives in the last four days. She said Amit shah must own moral responsibility for the huge security lapse in connection with the violence in Delhi. “The Centre must be held responsible for what is happening in Delhi. Union Home Minister Amit Shah must resign owning moral responsibility,” Sule said.
Saying that it is a huge security lapse during US President Donald Trump’s visit to the country, Sule said Home Minister Amit Shah must be held responsible for the violence int he national capital.
“There should be an impartial probe into it. It is my humble request that the PM carries out a transparent inquiry into the security lapse,” the NCP leader said.
The unprecedented violence which has broken out since Sunday has so far claimed 22 lives. The violence triggered after clashes between pro and anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protesters in Jaffrabad area.
Reacting to the ongoing situation, former Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan said that the Godhra model has been replicated in Delhi.
Holding a press conference, Congress president Sonia Gandhi earlier in the day also stated that the Centre and the Delhi government were responsible for the deadly communal violence in the national capital and demanded that Home Minister Amit Shah should resign.
“The conspiracy was witnessed during Delhi polls and BJP leaders gave hate speeches creating atmosphere of fear and hatred,” she said, adding, “Union Home Minister Shah must take responsibility for the violence in Delhi and resign.”
She also slammed BJP leader Kapil Mishra for making a statement that allegedly incited violence in the city.
