New Delhi: The Lok Sabha on Wednesday will discuss the recent law and order situation in northeast Delhi. As per the latest updates, Opposition leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and BJP’s Meenakshi Lekhi will raise the issue and lead the discussion on the matter in the house. The discussion will be held under Rule 193 of the house proceedings which means there will be no voting after the debate.

The development comes as the Congress had long been demanding for a discussion on Delhi violence in Lok Sabha. The Congress last week had disrupted the house’s functioning demanding discussion on the issue, but the government had maintained that they will discuss the matter only after Holi.

Even as the ruckus continued in the lower house of the Parliament, Speaker Om Birla had last week suspended 7 Congress MPs for the rest of the session.

Apart from Delhi violence, the Congress is also likely to raise the issue of the Madhya Pradesh political crisis as senior leader Digvijaya Singh has said that he has ample proof that chartered flights were booked by BJP to fly rebel MLAs to Bengaluru.

In the latest development to the communal violence in northeast Delhi, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police on Monday arrested Shah Alam, brother of the suspended Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Councillor Tahir Hussain in the murder case of Intelligence Bureau officer Ankit Sharma during the riot.

As per updates from the police, three other people who had given shelter to Shah Alam have also been arrested.

In the communal violence that rocked the national capital, at least 53 people, including Ankit Sharma and police head constable Rattan Lal, were killed and more than 200 were injured.
