Agra: A 12-day-old baby named Sunny was killed by a monkey in Agra’s Mohalla Kachhera. The infant was found lying bruised on the terrace of a neighbour’s house.
According to the infant’s mother, the monkey snatched her baby and ran away with him on Monday evening while she was feeding him. Sunny’s family chased the monkey and later found him lying in a pool of blood on a neighbour’s terrace.
Sunny was rushed to the hospital but was declared brought dead by the doctors, said family members. Shocked by the incident, Sunny’s family members took him to another hospital but was told the same. The residents of Agra narrated their ordeal with many of them saying that monkeys loot, snatch and attack people, particularly women and children in Agra.
A resident of Vijay Nagar colony Seema Gupta said, “People do not dare to go to their terraces. Those who do have sealed their homes with iron mesh cages. You cannot leave your door open or sit in the sun.”

Meanwhile, eco-activist Shravan Kumar said the monkeys are turning aggressive as their natural habitats have been destroyed and the green cover is steadily shrinking.
