The incidents come a few days after a portion of a three-storey building collapsed in Bhiwandi, leaving one dead and six injured. The government, in connection with the matter, had blamed the builder, saying that the building was just six years old.
On Sunday, a building had collapsed in Missal Gadi in Ghaziabad where two people had lost their lives. The labourers have alleged that the builder forced them to keep working despite a crack which was visible in the building. Five labourers were rescued, a police official said.
The same day, one person was killed and at least 28 others were injured after a Coimbatore-based hospital collapsed in Chennai’s Kandanchavadi area. The victims, mostly migrant labourers, had night shift and were trapped in the debris after the collapse. Those who sustained severe head injuries were immediately hospitalised.
