Agra, March 11: The Assembly Elections in Agra were conducted on February 11, in phase one of the seven phase in Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2017. Agra district one of the most famous district in Uttar Pradesh has six tehsils Etmadpur, Agra, Bah, Kairoli, Kherahgarh and Fatehabad.  (CLICK HERE FOR RESULTS OF AGRA NAGAR NIGAM ELECTION 2017)

The three main assembly constituencies in Agra are:

The key candidates who fought from this constituency are Gutiyari Lal Duwesh of Bahujan Samaj Party, Dr. Girraj Singh Dharmesh of Bharatiya Janata Party, Avdesh Singh Ramu Suman from Rashtriya Lok Dal, Mamta Kaudan from Samjwadi Party.

According to the data of Election Commission of India, Agra Cantonment constituency has 3,83,405 registered voters. It comprises 2,13,414 male and 1,69,978 female registered voters. It also has 13 voters in the Others category.

Agra Cantonment (SC) saw BSP scoring a hat-trick since 2002 BSP has never lost from this constituency. In 2012, Gutiyari Lal Duwesh won from BSP. In 2007, it was Julfikar Ahmed Bhutto who won from BSP.

Agra North:

The key candidates who fought from this constituency are Er. Gyanendra Gautam of Bahujan Samaj Party, Jagan Prasad Garg of Bharatiya Janata Party, Samir Bhati of Congress, from Rashtriya Lok Dal Ravindra Singh Bhati, Atul Garg from Samajwadi Party.

BJP has been capturing this constituency from past three elections with the same candidate Jagan Prasad Garg. In 2012 he bagged 68,401 seats. Agra North constituency came into existence after the delimitation of 2008. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Dr Ram Shankar Katheria (BJP) won from here.

Earlier, a case was registered against (SP) candidate Atul Garg from Agra North assembly constituency, at the instance of the ElectionCommission which took Suo moto cognizance of his statement in a TV sting operation. Agra South:

The key candidates who fought from this constituency are Zulfiqar Ahmad Bhutto of Bahujan Samaj Party, Yogendra Upadhyaya of Bharatiya Janata Party, Nazir Ahmed of  Indian National Congress, Mohd Idris from All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen and Independent candidates Ashraf Qureshi and Mustakeem.

In 2012, Yogendra Upadhyaya of Bharatiya Janata Party had won the elections with a good margin, Bhutto of BSP bagged the second position then. Upadhyaya had secured 71000 votes, whereas Bhutto had received 51,000 votes.

BJP MLA Upadhyaya is confident of winning this time too and was quoted by Indian Express saying he will not let anyone cross 1,000 votes this time.
