Agra, July 25: At least four persons were killed and more than dozens were injured after an LPG cylinder blast in Agra last night. The injured were rushed to the hospital and were admitted at the Sarojini Naidu Medical College and a private hospital and their condition is reportedly stable. Among the ones reported dead were Giriraj Singh, Kamal Singh, Mahavir Singh and Om Prakash. Circle officer (CO), Achnera area Namrata Srivastava confirmed the same. Srivastava added, “The people who were in the house and ran out managed to escape any injury. All the deceased and injured were their neighbours who arrived to see what had happened.” She said that the deceased and the injured had been hit by debris. According to the police, house belonged to a man named Himmat Singh. It was his daughter who alerted everyone in the house after she smelled gas leak. More than a dozen family members were present in the house after Singh’s daughter raised an alarm. Saleem Khan, Iradat Nagar police station house officer (SHO) said the explosion took place at in Darki village at around 9 pm.
The SHO said, “A few of them went in to rectify the leak which is when the cylinder exploded.” No case has been registered so far.
