New Delhi: The Congress on Wednesday came out with its official communique over AgustaWestland chopper scam. Issued by the party’s spokesperson RS Surjewala, the note is headlined ‘BJP Has 3M Strategy…Misguiding, Mudslinging and Misleading Nation’. It alleged that the BJP wanted to manufacture ‘false evidence’ rather than discover the truth of ‘its own corruption’.

Claiming that the BJP faced imminent defeat in the Assembly elections in five states, the communique said that PM Narendra Modi and the BJP were seeking to “weave a web of lies” and “perpetuate falsehoods”. It said the Government was trying “cover-up conspiracy to hide its sinister role in “helping and promoting a banned company”.

Giving a dateline of “facts”, the note claims that the Modi government has lost all litigation in the case. The note alleges that the Government was “latching on to Christian Michel for committing a smear campaign against Opposition leaders.”

It adds that it was time the CBI investigated PM Modi for his role in “exonerating AgustaWestland” to deflect attention from imminent defeat in five states. Meanwhile, Michel has been remanded to five-day CBI custody so that he could be interrogated.
