Mumbai, May 9: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) coalition partner in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena, has once again slammed the Narendra Modi government at Centre, accusing it of politicising the AgustaWestland scam. In its mouthpiece Saamna, the regional far-right outfit lashed out at the central government for allegedly using the VVIP Chopper scandal for political gains. It has adviced Centre to initiate legal action against those whose names have propped pp in the scam, rather than smoking mirrors over the controversy. In editorial titled, Afwah, Brahm, Yudh (Rumours, Myth, War), Saamna launched a veiled attack against BJP saying, “The priority of this government is to send Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi behind the bars. They should be sent in jail, if there is incrementing evidence against them. What is preventing the BJP? They have a full majority government at Centre…However, by merely promising a Congress-mukt Bharat, you (BJP) cannot continue to appeal the common man. The issues of aam aadmi should be considered with utmost priority.”
The editorial adds that people on the ground are more bothered about issues like drought, malnutrition, unemployment, low wages, agrarian crisis, rather than seeing the Gandhi family behind the bars. “Even Indira Gandhi was sent to jail. But that government which sent her behind the bars, failed to tackle the real issues which the masses faced. And then Indira returned to power.”
Shiv Sena also appealed to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar to ensure that the investigation gets initiated, rather than indulging in rhetoric inside the Parliament.
