Earlier, the Ahemdabad director had also issued a similar advisory, asking passengers to reach at least three hours ahead of scheduled departure time in the view of the tight security measures put in place for Trump’s arrival. “Passengers should carry hard copy of their flight itinerary, based on which police authorities will facilitate their journey to the airport,” Manoj Gangal was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
He further said that all flights will arrive at and depart from the Ahmedabad airport as per schedule on February 24, the day of President Trump’s visit. However, airport employees will have to go through security checks by the police.
Ahmedabad will be the first stop of President Trump’s two-day visit to India, which is his first state visit to the country. Accompanied by First Lady Melania, Trump, along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will inaugurate the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) Stadium at Motera. The stadium, with a capacity of 1,10,000, will be the largest cricket stadium in the world.
From Ahmedabad, the Trumps will leave for Agra to visit the Taj Mahal and finally, at night, arrive in the national capital for the official part of the visit.
