Ahmedabad Plane Crash: An Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, flying from Ahmedabad to London, crashed near Ahmedabad Airport on Thursday. The aircraft carrying, over 200 passengers crashed shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad.
Visuals of the plane crashed circulated on social media show thick smoke from the site. Emergency teams, including the medical and fire brigade, immediately arrived to the spot.
Well, this is one of the harrowing plane crashes that occurred in India over the past five years. Given below is the list of the Indian plane crashes that happened over the years and shook the entire nation.
On August 7, 2020, Air India Express Flight IX-1344 met with a tragic plane crash that remains one of the most horrifying incidents in recent Indian history. The Boeing 737-800 aircraft was operating under the Vande Bharat Mission, a government initiative to bring back Indians stranded abroad during the COVID-19. The flight was flying from Dubai to Kozhikode (Calicut) and encountered dangerous weather conditions. Upon landing, the plane overshot the runway and got divided into two. The unfortunate accident led to the loss of 21 lives, including the pilots, and cause over 100 of passengers injured.
Air India Express Flight IX-812 crash– Mangalore
Air India Express Flight IX-812 crashed on May 22, 2010, at Mangalore International Airport, becoming one of the most deadliest aircraft accidents in India. The Dubai-Mangalore Boeing 737-800 overshot the tabletop runway on landing, plunged into a deep gorge, and caught into fire. Of the 166 people onboard, 158 died tragically, with only 8 surviving- most of them seated in the front section of the plane.
Alliance Air Flight 7412 crashed on July 17, 1998, near Patna Airport during a failed on-ground, losing control and hitting a residential area. The tragic accident took 60 lives, including 55 onboard and 5 on the ground.
On November 12, 1996, Saudi Arabian Flight 763 and Kazakhstan Airlines Flight 1907 collided mid-air near Charkhi Dadri, Haryana, due to miscommunication and altitude violations. All 349 passengers and crew members died, becoming the deadliest mid-air collision in history.
On April 26, 1993, Flight 491 crashed shortly after takeoff from Aurangabad airport, hitting a truck on the runway. The impact caused aircraft to lose control crash, and catch fire, it took lives of the 55 out of total 188 passengers.
On February 14, 1990, Indian Airlines Flight 605 crashed while landing at Bangalore’s HAL Airport in Karnataka after descending too early and touching down short of the runway. Of 146 passengers, 92 lost their lives in this unfortunate accident.
