Chennai, May 2: The rift between the two warring factions of the AIADMK in Tamil Nadu is to continue as O Panneerselvam on Tuesday accused Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami of being an ally of TTV Dinakaran who is currently in police custody. Talking tough on merger, O Panneerselvam led faction issued an ultimatum to Edappadi Palaniswami team to fulfil their key demands of removal of VK Sasikala and TTV Dinakaran from the party by Tuesday evening. According to a report of the India Today, the OPS camp is adamant on their demand of expulsion of V K Sasikala and TTV Dinakaran from the AIADMK. The report said if Edappadi Palaniswami doesn’t sack VK Sasikala and TTV Dinakaran from the AIADMK by Tuesday evening, the OPS camp may suspend talks and dismantle the 7-member committee formed to deal with the merger. Meanwhile, O Panneerselvam is preparing for a statewide tour from May 5 to make grounds for the upcoming local body polls in Tamil Nadu. Earlier, KP Munusamy, a senior leader in OPS camp, reiterated that the EPS camp must secure the resignation of the jailed Sasikala and her nephew Dinakaran from their party posts before holding merger talks. He had also asked the ruling AIADMK faction to withdraw the affidavit filed with the Election Commission naming Sasikala as General Secretary and Dinakaran as Deputy General Secretary. After Jayalalithaa died on December 5, Sasikala took charge of the AIADMK, and forced the exit of Chief Minister Panneerselvam, who finally revolted against her. Although the ruling AIADMK faction has more supporters in the Tamil Nadu assembly, it is in deep trouble after Delhi Police filed a case against Dinakaran on charges of trying to bribe voters in Chennai.
