Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, Jan 6: Tyre of a Bhopal bound Air India flight AI-435 burst while landing on Wednesday. All passengers are reportedly safe. As per reports, there was a jerk following which the tyre burst, however the pilot safely landed the plane.
The flight was scheduled to leave for Delhi after landing in Bhopal but following the accident, the flight will leave in the afternoon. There has been several such incidents in the past. (Also Read: Air India plane suffers tyre burst while landing)
In September 2015, more than 160 passengers including Jharkhand chief minister Raghubar Das had a miraculous escape on board a GoAir flight when one of the rear tyres burst while landing at the Ranchi airport.
Reportedly, there has been 17 such incidents between year 2012 and October 30, 2015 including Air India and various other airlines. Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma had informed Rajya Sabha last month. While there were three such incidents in 2012, four such tyre burst were reported in 2013. A total of seven tyre bursts were reported till 2014. SpiceJet had also reported five such incidents between 2012 and October 30, 2015. Such incidents were investigated by Permanent Investigation Board of the airline under supervision of aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
