New Delhi: An AirAsia flight i5-719 travelling from Hyderabad to New Delhi suffered a technical issue during descent on Monday morning. Therefore, a flight crew carried out a precautionary landing at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA). After landing the plane safely, the aircraft was taxied back to the apron. A detailed inspection of the aircraft is currently underway, stated an AirAsia spokesperson.
An Air Traffic Control officer at the Delhi airport was quoted by a leading daily as saying, “At 11 am, ATC asked to declare a full emergency for Air Asia flight I5-719 (Hyderabad-Delhi) as the pilot had informed about hydraulic failure. The flight landed safely on runway 28 at 11:15 am with fire tenders near the runway on the standby. The plane landed safely and taken to the parking bay and full emergency was terminated at 11:40 am.”
In a similar incident on March 7, two planes of Air India and GoAir made an emergency landing at the Lucknow airport after developing a snag in their respective engines. While Air India flight AI 755 was en route from Delhi to Durgapur, Go Air flight (Airbus 320 Neo) was en route from Patna to Delhi.
