Lucknow: In a major embarrassment for SP chief and former UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, his tweet over a government scheme attracted the attention of NITI Aayog Adviser Alok Kumar who went on to pick factual errors in the same. Kumar pointed out that the data quoted by Yadav in a tweet about zero utilisation of funds under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana in UP was factually incorrect. Yadav’s tweet claimed that the schemes meant for those carrying the future of the nation were lying redundant, with funds unutilised. It said it was unfortunate how the government, which loved making announcements, didn’t bring any scheme to completion.

On the weekend, Yadav had tweeted a screenshot, the image said, “No money spent from 336 crore under PM maternity scheme in UP.” Taking note of the tweet, NITI Aayog adviser Kumar tweeted on Wednesday, “Sir pl recheck. The news item is factually incorrect. As on 13th September, 2018, position of PMMVY in UP is as follows:- Beneficiaries enrolled- 8,28,032, Beneficiaries paid:- 5,80,254 and Amount disbursed:- Rs 188.80 crore.”

Not one to miss the opportunity, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s media advisor Mrityunjay Kumar tweeted, “Akhilesh Yadav Ji, you should not close your eyes and ignore facts. Now a former secretary is showing you the mirror.” Interestingly, Kumar’s Twitter handle also revealed how the month is being observed as Nutrition Month (Poshan Maah).
