New Delhi, April 10: Bollywood star Akshay Kumar who recently won the National Award for his film ‘Rustom’ in which he portrayed the role of Indian Navy officer has now finally done something commendable for the Armed personnels to look up to him with respect. The actor who was seen across Tv channels of donating money to the kin of jawans now made it possible even for the common man. Bharatkeveer.gov.in is the website/ app launched by the actor.
Kumar launched an app on Sunday on the occasion of Valour Day. The website was launched by Home Minister Rajnath Singh at Vigan Bhawan in the national capital. The actor was on the podium too at the launch. With this website, anyone can donate money to the families of slain jawans and the maximum amount that can be pitched in is Rs 15 lakh.
Akshay Kumar had come up with this idea after one of his friend wanted to donate money to the families of jawans but had no direction towards it. Earlier, Kumar had met the then Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar in this regard. Kumar, also hailed as Khiladi, had met Home Ministry officials who had brought this idea into reality.
Speaking about this venture in the national capital Kumar appealed to the people to not to treat him as an actor, instead look up to him as a child of an Army officer. Kumar said that some of the youngsters are getting attracted towards terrorism but they don’t realise that it is not worth being appreciated. Akshay further stated that the Jawans fight with their heart and soul, so commendable work and need the support of their people.
The portal is an IT based platform, with an objective to enable willing donors to contribute towards the family of a braveheart who sacrificed his/her life in line of duty. The amount so donated will be credited to the account of ‘Next of Kin’ of those Central Armed Police Force/Central Para Military Force soldiers. Actor Akshay Kumar was the Guest of Honour during the function.
