Aligarh: Had it not been for a camera, placed in the room to test its efficacy, an Aligarh tutor might have continued to assault a child, suggested reports on Monday. The man was caught on camera repeatedly beating up and seeming to bite a seven-year-old boy. The video has gone viral since said media reports on Monday. In the six-minute-long video, the teacher beats up the minor with his chappal, grabs him by his hair, tugs at his ears and shakes up. He also picks up a glass and what could be a key to assault the already shocked child who continues to scream throughout.

The teacher also appears to grab the child by his fingers and appears to be biting them. Later, he offers a glass of water to the child and asks him to smile.

The entire incident took place in a room where the door was shut. The child’s father runs a workshop where he had placed the camera. However, following complaints of some defect in the equipment had him place it in the room to test it. That’s how the teacher’s brutality caught the father’s attention.

“I am absolutely shocked at what this man did to my child,” he told news agency ANI. “I have a hardware workshop in the house and the sound of machines meant that no one could hear my son’s cries.”

He added that he had filed a police complaint immediately after discovering the footage of the brutality. The accused teacher is absconding. “The video has been recovered. A case has been registered and a team has been formed to nab the teacher,” said Superintendent of Police (Crime) Ashutosh Dwivedi.

A case has been registered under IPC Section 307 (attempt to murder) against the teacher.
