New Delhi, May 23: In yet another controversy, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Alka Lamba indulged in midnight theatrics on Monday and allegedly hampered the work of fire fighters in Chandi Chowk where goods worth crores of rupees were gutted in fire. The shop owners expressed their against Alka Lamba and questioned her move of climbing the fire brigade and asked ‘why this tamasha’.
As per the video, Lamba was seen atop the fire brigade when fire fighters were trying to douse the fire. Shop owners accused the MLA to halting the work. “Kaam rukwa diya aur tamasha dekh rahi hai. Politics karne ki kya zarurat thi. (She halted the work and indulged in theatrics. What was the need of doing politics),” a shop owner said.
“Aag lagi hai aur photoshoot karwa rahi hai. Woh log aaram se kaam kar rahe the aur unka kaam rukwa diya. Iska kya matbal hai. (Shops are being gutted in fire and she is busy in photoshoot. What is the point of stopping their (firefighters) work),” another shop owner said.
At least 80 shops were gutted after the major fire broke out in Chandni Chowk’s Moti Bazar area on Monday night, officials said on Tuesday. A call was received at 9:30 PM on Monday about the fire and 29 fire tenders were rushed to the spot, a senior Delhi Fire Services officer said as quoted by PTI.
