Lucknow, May 12: In a major blow, Allahabad High Court on Friday rejected bail plea of former Uttar Pradesh minister and rape accused Gayatri Prajapati.
During the hearing, the court also ordered the arrest of two associates of Prajapati, Vikas Verma and Pintoo Singh, in the case. The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court will take up the case for next hearing on 26 May.
Earlier, the Allahabad High Court had stayed the bail order granted by a sessions court to former Uttar Pradesh minister in the case.
Reportedly, the order was passed by Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale on an application moved by the state government through Additional Advocate General V K Shahi seeking cancellation of bail granted to Prajapati and two other co-accused in the case.
Prajapati was arrested on March 15 from the Aashiyana area in Lucknow by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF).The Samajwadi Party leader, who was also accused of allegedly raping the girl`s mother, evaded his arrest for nearly a month before he was arrested.
Earlier in February, a police complaint had been filed against the former minister and six others in the case following the Supreme Court`s order. The Uttar Pradesh Police had also filed a non- bailable warrant against the former minister and six others for the same.
