New Delhi, June 2: The latest in the line of falling victim to violence of self styled cow vigilantes, Gau Rakshaks, is a BA 2nd year student in Haryana. According to reports, a group of cow vigilantes were protesting in Sonepat’s Gohana town against the Kerala Congress members slaughtering a bovine in public.
The victim, identified as Shivam, was in the vicinity along with a journalist friend and was reportedly fiddling with the camera when the protestors approached him to take photographs of them. When Shivam declined the proposal reportedly an altercation broke out between the protestors and him, which the people in the area diffused. However, later these protestors attacked Shivam with knives and stabbed him in his chest and abdomen, injuring him fatally.
The main accused in this case has been identified as Mohit, a 19 year old and he has been arrested. But reportedly two of his relatives, who were part of the group and also was involved in the attack are on the run. A case of ‘attempt to murder’ was registered against the trio, and according to Police inspector Ajaib Singh, the search for the duo is on.
Following the attack, Shivam was admitted to a nearby hospital, but later had to be moved to Delhi’s Apollo Hospital due to his severe injuries.
However, noteworthy that after the incident, the Gau-Rakshaks allegedly disowned Mohit and the other two perpetrators and said they were not part of the group but were instead trouble makers who joined any protest.
