Alwar, Feb 1: Congress candidate Karan Singh Yadav has won against Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Jaswant Yadav by 1,56,319 votes. The bypoll on the seat was announced after it had gone vacant following the death of BJP MP Chand Nath earlier last year. A total of 11 candidates were in the fray for Alwar Lok Sabha Bye-Election 2018. The Congress candidate had maintained a lead on the seat since the counting began at 8 AM on Friday. Notably, voting for Alwar Lok Sabha Bye-Election 2018 was held on January 29 and it had recorded a voter turnout of 61.86 per cent. PCC President Sachin Pilot had aggressively campaigned in Alwar which, along with Ajmer Lok Sabha seat and Mandalgarh Assembly seat, went to bypolls just four days after the release of the controversial Sanjay Leela Bhansali film Padmaavat. The  bypoll is also being seen as a semi-final for the Rajasthan Assembly Elections and Lok Sabha Elections 2019.
