New Delhi, July 23: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday accused Rajasthan police of supporting cow vigilantes in Alwar lynching case. “Rajasthan police’s actions are not a surprise to me, they did the same in Pehlu Khan murder case. Rajasthan police is supporting cow vigilantes. These Gau Rakshaks and police are in this together,” Owaisi said, while speaking to ANI.

On the other hand, Telanagana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA T Raja Singh who had stirred a controversy by defending cow vigilantism stood by his statement. He said, “I do not say anything wrong in the video. The Parliament should pass a bill for the protection of cows and cow should also be declared as ‘Gau Raj Mata’, then only such incidents will stop.”

Earlier on Friday, a 28-year-old Rakbar Khan was allegedly lynched to death in Alwar on the suspicion of smuggling cows. Khan, a resident of Mewat in Rajasthan, was transporting the animals to his village along with another man when they were stopped by a group of villagers near Lalawandi village in Alwar.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had condemned the incident and had assured an investigation in the case. “The incident of alleged lynching of a person transporting bovines in Alwar district is condemnable. Strictest possible action shall be taken against the perpetrators,” Raje had tweeted.
