Actress-turned politician and Union Minister, Smriti Irani from Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), who is contesting from Amethi, won the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 and this time too, she was expecting to win this time too, especially after the Exit Poll Predictions. However, as of current trends during the counting of votes, Smriti Irani is trailing by a margin of 57,911 votes. Kishori Lal Sharma of Congress is winning as of now.
Smriti Irani, a popular television actress who is now a politician, has been the Minister of Women and Child Development since 2019 and has previously been the Minister of Minority Affairs, HRD Minister and I&B Minister among others. A prominent BJP leader, Smriti Irani has been a Lok Sabha MP of Amethi from 2019 and also won the Lok Sabha Elections 2019. Her schooling was done from Delhi’s Holy Child Auxilium School after which she enrolled in the School of Open Learning (SoL) at University of Delhi. The actress-turned-politician, in 2019, had revealed that she had written her first year B.Com. exams from that institution, but had not completed the three-year degree course.
Congress candidate Kishori Lal Sharma, who has cemented his lead in Amethi as the vote counting for the UP Lok Sabha Election Results 2024 is underway, is a popular name of the constituency. A close confidant of the Gandhi family and a resident of Punjab; he came to Amethi as a Congress worker in 1983 and worked closely with then-Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Not much is known about his educational qualifications, Kishori Lal Sharma is a veteran politician and the current trend of the Amethi Results have established this fact.
