Amethi: An Uttar Pradesh police constable lost his job after a Special Protection Group (SPG) personnel, protecting Congress president Rahul Gandhi, accused him of being drunk. Furthermore he added,”The constable was sent for medical examination at the community health centre at Musafirkhana after allegations by SPG. Congress president Rahul Gandhi is on a two-day visit to his Parliamentary constituency Amethi, beginning September 24. On Tuesday, he is expected to chair a meeting of the District Development and Monitoring Committee (earlier known as District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee) on the premises of collectorate at Gauriganj.

Union minister Smriti Irani paid two single-day visits to Amethi in the first week of this month during which she criticized the Amethi MP for his alleged negligence of Amethi.
