New Delhi: Hours after addressing chief ministers of all states over the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said he will share a video message with the people of the country on Friday amid the nationwide lockdown. Earlier in the day, PM Modi held a meeting with chief ministers of all states on the COVID-19 outbreak through video conferencing.

The development comes as the number of COVID-19 cases in the country has climbed to 1,965 with the death toll rising to 50.

While addressing the chief ministers, PM Modi had said that testing, tracing, isolation and quarantine should remain the focus in the next few weeks while checking the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Interacting with them through video conference, he said it is necessary to ensure availability of separate and dedicated hospital facilities for COVID-19 patients.

PM Modi also told the chief ministers that it is important to formulate a common exit strategy to ensure the staggered re-emergence of the population once the lockdown ends.
