Earlier in the day, Union Minister Giriraj Singh called Rahul a “non-serious politician” and said he runs away leaving his party leaders behind. “Yeh natural leader nai hai, yeh paristhitiyon ki den hai. Yeh rani ke khok se paida hue hai…. Aaj koi neta apne karyakartaon ko chhod kar ke aisey samay mei bhagta. Lekin yeh kabhi dikhe nai hai. Yeh hai non-serious adhyaksh of Congress — Rahul Gandhi. (He is not a serious leader, he is leader because of circumstances. He has taken birth from a queen’s womb and run away leaving his party workers. He is a non-serious Congress president),” Singh said.

“56 din ek baar gayab ho gaye…abhi gayab ho gaye, koi neta nai bhag sakta aise samay mei, apne karyakartaon ke saath rehta. Yeh stress nai jhel sakte. Yeh jante hai ki kab mujhe bhagna hai. Lekin Congress ke logon ne zabardasti unhe neta bana kar rakha hai, (Once he vanished for 56 days and he has gone missing again. No leader runs away like this. He cannot take stress. He knows when he has to run away. But the Congress leaders have made him the leader),” Singh added.

While the Congress has emerged as the single largest in Meghalaya, it failed to open its account in Nagaland and Tripura. The Bharatiya Janata Party, on the other hand, has swept Tripura winning 41 seats. The party is also likely to form government in Nagaland alongwith its ally NDPP.
