New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party National President Amit Shah on Wednesday who was on his way to Imphal to attend the oath-taking ceremony of N.Biren Singh came back to Delhi due to a technical glitch in his flight, claims report in news agency ANI. Yesterday, Manipur Governor Najma Heptulla had invited the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to form the government in the state led by the party’s N Biren Singh.
A former minister in the Ibobi Singh-led Congress government, Biren thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP leadership for giving him an opportunity to serve Manipur.”I thank the Prime Minister and the entire BJP leadership. I had left the Congress protesting against its misrule and misgovernance. “I assure you that our team under the leadership of Prime Minister Modiji will provide good governance,” he had said earlier.

As per the statement of Raj Bhavan, the swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place at 1 pm today. Although the BJP won 21 seats in the 60-member Manipur Assembly, it claimed to have support of Shyamkumar, one of the 28 Congress MLAs, the lone MLA of both LJP and All India Trinamool Congress, besides four MLAs each of NPP and NPF.
Yesterday, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi downplayed the allegations levelled against his party that they are not allowing the regional leaders to come up and the party’s top brass was disconnected with them, he said, “We formed the government in Punjab. We won the elections in Manipur and Goa. That’s not a bad result.”
