The National Film Awards released the list of their winners for the past year. In its 63rd year, these awards are not only considered prestigious but also set a benchmark for the year to come and the kind of movies audiences really want to see.
This year’s list is a fine compilation of great talents that make up the film industry. For his excellent performance in “Piku,” playing a hypochondriac patient and child at heart, Amitabh Bachchan received the Best Actor award. This isn’t the first time Bachchan has been honored by the National Film Award. His first win was in 1990 for “Agneepath,” followed by 2005 for “Black,” and 2009 for “Paa.”

Kangana Ranaut bagged the Best Actress award for her heart-warming and hilarious performance in “Tanu Weds Manu Returns,” the sequel to the original hit film. In a statement, Ranaut expressed her excitement: “It is the best birthday gift I could have got. I am thrilled and feel blessed especially since Mr. Bachchan is the best actor with me.” Like her co-winner, Ranaut is no newbie to the National Awards. She previously won in 2008 for “Fashion,” and last year for “Queen.”
“Dum Laga Ke Haisha,” starring Ayushman Khurana and Bhumi Pednekar well-deservingly won the Best Hindi Film award and “Baahubali” won the Best Film. Salman Khan-starrer “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” scooped up the win for Best Popular Hindi Film.
Thank you everybody for all your love. We are really happy that #BajrangiBhaijaan got the #NationalAward for Best Popular Film
