- Dhananjoy Tripura of Indigenousn People’s Front Of Tripura has won in Raima Valley.
- In Karbook, Burba Mohan Tripura of BJP is leading by 768 votes.
- Ranjith Das of the Bharatiya Janata Party is expected to win in Amarpur.
- Sindhu Chandra Jamatia won in Ampinagar by 7382 votes. Daneil Jamatia of CPIM trailing.
The main contest is between the Communist Party of India– Marxist (CPIM) and BJP-IPFT alliance. 292 candidates are in the fray. Polling was conducted on February 18 with record 92 per cent turnout. The Congress party is contesting the elections alone. In last elections, the fight was between CPI-M and the BJP. The CPI-M led Left front has been winning in the northeast since 1993. Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is in power since 1998. The CPI-M fielded 56 candidates, leaving one seat each to its Left Front partners — the Communist Party of India, Forward Bloc and Revolutionary Socialist Party. The BJP contested in 50 seats and left nine seats for its ally, the IPFT. Ampinagar (ST): The Congress has fielded Daniel Kaipeng and Communist Party of India (Marxist) has backed Daniel Jamatia. Apart from these two, Sindhu Chnadra Jamatia of Indigenious People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) and Ram Krishna Jamatia of Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra are also in fray. This seat is reserved for Schedule Tribe candidates. In 2013, CPM’s Daniel Jamatia registered thumping victory from Ampinagar constituency defeating INPT’s Nagendra Jamatia.
Amarpur: For 2018 Assembly elections, Indian National Congress has fielded Biplab Kumar Saha, while CPI(M) has fielded Parimal Debnath and All India Trinamool Congress has nominated Subir Sen Ghosh. Amra Bangalee’s Bijoy Das is also in poll-battle from Amarpur constituency. In 2013, the constituency was won by CPI(M)’s Parimal Debnath. He had defeated BJP’s Ranjit Das.
Karbook : In 2013, CPM’s Priyamani Debbarma had defeated INPT’s Dharjaroy Tripura from constituency number 43. Communist Party of India (Marxist) has nominated Priyamani Debbarma while Congress has fielded Ram Bahadur Reang. North East India Development Party has fielded Subal Debbarma and Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded Burba Mohan Tripura.
Raima Valley: In 2013, constituency number 44 was won by Lalit MohanTripura. For upcoming elections, Communist Party of India (Marxist) entrusted Lalit Mohan Tripura whereas Congress fielded Shib Chandra Debbarma. Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra has fielded Shib Chandra Debbarma. Dhananjoy Tripura is also in the fray, he is contesting on Indigenious People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) seat.
Kamalpur: Constituency number 45 Kamalpur is a General category seat. The main fight is between Amra Bangalee’s Premtosh Deb, BJP’s Manoj Kanti Deb, CPI(M)’s Bijoy Laxmi Singha and Congress’ Bijoy Krishna Chatterjee. In 2013, Bijoy Lakshmi Singha (CPM) had registered thumping victory from Kamalpur.
