Always the first to catch up with the newsmakers and current trends across the nation, dairy cooperative Amul caught up with the latest buzz that has gripped the mind of the country. Congress minister Shashi Tharoor made a poignant and soul-stirring speech at the Oxford University in front of students and other dignitaries who were on both sides of the debate. Tharoor points on the ramifications of the two-century old British rule, its atrocities and a gamut of other hard-hitting issues were brought to light. Tharoor’s speech received widespread praise and was given a round of applause from no less than prime minister Narendra Modi, who put party differences aside. Later, several political commentators pointed out that when it came to slating the British, people and the politicians joined hands under one umbrella.

A classic feature of the Amul ads, which decorate newspapers and giant flex boards across towns are the witty puns and intelligent taglines. This ad is no different and the illustrations are also spot on with a stone-faced Brit armyman and Tharoor stretching his hands to make a point. In no time, the Thiruvanantapuram MP’s speech was shared across social media.
