Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday announced a reduction in petrol and diesel price by Rs 2 each, in the state. The new petrol and diesel prices will be applicable from Tuesday morning (September 11). The orders will reportedly be issued later today.
A deduction in petrol and diesel prices in Andhra Pradesh has come a day after Vasundhara Raje-led Rajasthan government announced a 4 per cent reduction in Value-added tax (VAT) on the fuel.
The Rajasthan government on Sunday announced a 4 per cent VAT deduction in the petrol and diesel prices which, the official statement said, came into effect from midnight. The 4 per cent reduction in VAT have reduced the petrol and diesel prices by Rs 2.5 per litre in Rajasthan.
The VAT on petrol has been reduced from 30 to 26 per cent and from 22 to 18 per cent on diesel, Rajasthan Chief Minister Raje announced at a public gathering in Rawatsar in Hanumangarh district on Sunday.
“We have decided to reduce VAT on diesel and petrol by 4 per cent, which will provide much-needed relief to the people of the state, be it farmers or women or others,” Raje told reporters in Rawatsar after making the announcement.
Reduction in petrol and diesel prices in Andhra Pradesh has come on a day the Congress party anchored a protest against the rising fuel prices across the country and the falling value of the rupee against the dollar. Bharat Bandh was called for today from 9 AM to 3 PM to bring petrol and diesel under the Goods and Services Tax (GST), which, the grand-old party said, would decrease the price by Rs 15-18.
