Noida, September 26: Noida ‘s only Animal Hospital and Shelter in Sector 94, earlier known as SPCA, is suffering from acute shortage of food and medicines allegedly due to the apathy of Noida Authority. The salaries of the shelter staff have also not been paid, and they have threatened to stop feeding the animals
The shelter in charge of the SPCA, Vidhi Shukla said that she is arranging funds for food and medicine through donations from volunteers.
“The Noida Authority sends food for four days at a time. When it is finished, we have to arrange food for animals. We are accepting donations from volunteers to get food and medicine. We are now also accepting food and medicines as donations,” she said.
“We are not receiving funds for food and medicine for animals. After requesting repetitively, they (Noida Authority) have appointed a doctor today. But no word on medicines,” she added.
“We are not able to treat animals due to lack of medicine. We are only tending to animals seriously afflicted with diseases like maggot wounds.
She said that the staff has threatened to shun work if their salaries are not paid.
“The staff has refused to work as they have not received their salaries. They were given their June salary last week. They had threatened to not feed the animals. After being requested, the staff relented and fed the animals. But if their salaries are not given, they will stop the work again.”
” I had discussed the situation with PE health, RS Yadav of Noida authority and then the ACEO RK Mishra. They say they are looking into it. But nothing has been done so far,” she concluded.
