New Delhi: Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Wednesday lambasted at the BJP government by calling the recently implemented Citizenship Amendment Act a ‘black Act’. Speaking to news agency ANI, Digvijaya Singh, while in Bhopal Madhya Pradesh, said, “All those people who believe in the Constitution of India will never allow the implementation of this black Act.”
Meanwhile on Wednesday, the senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh slammed Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the violence exhibited by the Delhi police. Taking to his official Twitter account, Singh posted a video of the violence in Delhi over CAA and said, “Stone Pelting Delhi Police!! Amit Shah, did u give Delhi Police the permission for stone-pelting? Did u even provide them with training to pelt stones? Until now the youths of Kashmir were blamed for stone-pelting, and now Delhi Police too is engaging in stone-pelting.”
On Tuesday, Digvijaya Singh had urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to roll back the CAA in order to protect India’s ‘secular’ identity.
The Citizenship Amendment Act seeks to provide Indian citizenship to non-Muslim refugees, those belonging to Hindu, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist and Parsi communities, fleeing religious persecution from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. Besides, only those who had entered India on or before December 31, 2014 are covered under this law.
