Mumbai, Oct 29: Actor Anupam Kher created buzz all over social media through his scathing remarks against the dozen of filmmakers who returned their national awards citing the rise of fringe elements in the nation. Kher, known for his right-wing leanings slammed the dissent shown by the members of film fraternity alleging them of being part of a greater conspiracy against the current government led by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). “Some more usual suspects who never wanted Narendra Modi to become Prime Minister in the first place have joined the ‘Award Wapsi’ gang,” Kher said on Twitter. Anupam Kher also accused the dissident filmmakers of being responsible for removing him from censor board. “The same ‘Award Wapsi gang’ was behind removing me from the censor board when Congress came to power,” he said. Interestingly, the revered actor’s wife Kirron Kher is a parliamentarian on BJP ticket. Recently, he also lambasted the Sahitya Akademi writers for returning their honours back to the government due to the spree of attacks on rationalists and the subsequent inaction adopted.
