Anupam Kher tweets ‘love’ and ‘blessings’ for NIT Srinagar students, after being stopped from entering campus

Veteran Bollywood actor Anupam Kher had earlier attempted to meet with the students of NIT Srinagar, saying that it was a symbolic gesture to show solidarity with them, but he was stopped on account of fears of a law and order situation.

Srinagar, April 10: Veteran Bollywood actor and theatre personality Anupam Kher on Sunday visited Srinagar and attempted to see students of the campus, but was stopped for fear of a law and order situation. The actor however, did not give up and attempted to get his message to the students of the premier engineering institute, by tweeting his stand, from the airport, where is now stationed. Kher, who has been a vocal proponent of Hindu nationalism, told the students to focus on their exams and sent his ‘love’ to the students.

Kher tweeted, “Dear #NITSrinagar students: Your courage has been Loud & Clear. Now show victory with your exam results. I send you my love from d airport.” Hailing the students’ bravery, Kher further said, Country loves & Salutes ur Nationalism & Courage. Keep it up. Work Hard & Good luck for your exams.” Kher had earlier attempted to meet with the students saying that it was a symbolic gesture to show solidarity with the students.  ”I am visiting there at a personal level. “It’s important to give NIT Srinagar students’ moral support. I’m going there as a citizen to meet students,” Kher told ANI. “I am not going to flare-up this issue. I will visit there as a citizen, I don’t have any political fan following. I will also try to meet Mehbooba ji. I have not informed anyone, I have no security arrangements, I am going as a passenger,” he said. Tensions had started simmering when some outstation students claimed that Kashmiri students shouted anti-India slogans in the aftermath of Indian cricket team’s defeat in the semi finals of the World Cup T20 series, against West Indies.
