Anwar Jalalpuri, Who Translated Gita in Urdu, Dies

The veteran poet was not keeping well after the death of his daughter in London on November 17, 2017. He fell in bathroom and taken to a hospital in Lucknow where doctors found him in critical condition with a 2cm clot in his brain.

New Delhi, Jan 2: Noted Urdu poet Anwar Jalalpuri died aged 71 on Tuesday, four days after ge suffered brain stroke. He was taken to a hospital after suffering brain stroke in Lucknow.

Anwar Jalalpuri, a Yash Bharti recipient, is best known for his translation of shaloks of Bhagvad Gita into Urdu verses.

His last rites will be performed in his hometown Jalalpur in Uttar Pradesh.
