Indore, Sep 10: Five policemen were injured when around 100 army men allegedly vandalised a police station in the city early this morning and manhandled the staff, including a woman officer.The incident took place at Vijay Nagar police station, where the army personnel also allegedly snatched away a service rifle of a policeman and damaged vehicles parked on the premises.According to sources, the incident could be a fallout of an altercation between a police patrol team and some army jawans that took place late last night near a bar in Vijay Nagar locality.

“The army personnel came on motorbikes and in four wheelers from Mhow Cantonment area (around 25 kms from the district) and stormed into Vijay Nagar police station around 5 am. They entered different rooms of the police station and destroyed windowpanes, computers and other material,” City (east) Superintendent of Police (SP) O P Tripathi said.”The army men allegedly indulged in violence that left five policemen injured, who were administered first aid. They broke the glass panes of the vehicles parked on the police station campus and took away a service rifle of a policeman, Tripathi said.
